tv9's brady smith reports. debbie hein's problems started after an alaskan cruise 3 years ago. "i started feeling sick to my stomach all the time."after testing, doctors told her it wasn't a virus she'd caught or something she'd eaten on the trip, but kidney failure. "i ended up on dialysis, which was a real shock." debbie endured 3 years of dialysis, and was placed on a constantly-growing waiting list for a transplant. "there aren't enough organs to go around; about 100 patients are added to the waiting list every day."to make matters worse, debbie has type-o blood, the most common. her husband mark and her sister teresa, both of whom elected to donate a kidney, have type ab. to solve this incompatibility , teresa, who debbie calls "her angel," entered into a paired donor program. "she was my paired donor. she donated a kidney, so that i could receive a kidney." but debbie's struggle wasn't over, as doctors found something completely new during surgery. "they discovered that i had some spots on my liver." it turned out to a slow- growing

"i've gotten stronger and better every day." all of that, just in time to enjoy the holidays with the family she loves so much.
